Imran Kassim – Vice Chair of Governors and Chair of Resources Committee - Parent Governor

I have worked for a large architectural practice based in Manchester for the last 20 years and during this time have specialised in the design of schools and college buildings.

I have sat on the school governing body as a parent governor and more recently as Chair of the Resources Committee. In this role I support the school leadership in steering an approach that contributes towards developing well rounded individuals and which encourages every child to fulfil their full academic potential.

My daughter has now left Charlesworth to go to a local secondary school but my son still attends.

Philip Whiston – Headteacher

I have been the headteacher of Charlesworth VC Primary School since my appointment in November 2020. This is my second headship, having being the Head of a primary school in East Cheshire for five years previously. I am passionate about delivering the best for each and every child that is part of our special community here at Charlesworth.

Councillor George Wharmby – Local Authority Governor

I started my working life as a stone mason and after marrying my wife, Jean, we jointly went into hospitality. After retiring, I went into Politics in 2005.

I have been a local authority councillor for Glossop and Charlesworth since 2005.  I have been on High Peak Borough Council from 2011 to present.  I was a Derbyshire County Councillor from 2005 to 2013 and from 2017 to present. I was Chairman of the County Council for the year 2018/2019 and currently sit on the Improvement and Scrutiny Resources Committee as well as the PDNPA.

I am Chair of High Peak and Hope Valley Community Rail Partnership for the County Council and am the LEA Governor at Charlesworth School in my electoral division. My personal interests are the Royal British Legion and I am the Poppy Appeal Organiser for Glossopdale.

David Pryce – Parent Governor

Born and raised in Broadbottom, I spread my wings for 15 years before returning to settle in Charlesworth. This is where I now live with my wife and three young children making them the 5th generation of Pryces to live in Charlesworth and giving me a passion to ensure that the school keeps delivering for the community.

Being a local small business owner, I feel using the experience and knowledge I have gained will help me to achieve this. I joined the Governing body in 2018 and having all three of my children now at the school has made me more determined to help it succeed.

Reverend Hazel Cook – Foundation Governor

Foundation Governor jointly appointed by Charlesworth Independent Chapel and St. John’s Church.

I have been a Governor of Charlesworth School for many years as well as a Governor of Hollingworth Primary School.

I am a Minister of the Methodist Connection with overall responsibility for the Methodist churches in the local area.

I have two sons – both now at university.

Kathryn Barton - Staff Governor
