I am a Trustee and Deacon of Top Chapel and have been a Governor at Charlesworth School for 12 years. Since 2012 and until the COVID restrictions, I have been a weekly volunteer at the school assisting with the libraries at both sites.

I was elected Chair of Governors in September 2019 - having been Vice -Chair for three years. By profession I am a qualified Social Worker and before I opted for early retirement, I had been Head of Adult Social Care with a Local Authority for 12 years, managing a multi-million pounds budget.

As part of my role, I was responsible for numerous service and staff development projects, as well as managing staff, handling complaints and dealing with issues of abuse and safeguarding.

I was also the Adult Social Care representative on the Children’s Serious Case Review Panel and the main link person with the Local Health Authorities and Hospice. I am passionately committed to ensuring that Charlesworth School remains a centre of educational excellence for local children and an integral part of village life.

My grand-daughter is currently in Year 5 at Charlesworth School and my grandson attended the school from Year 1 until he left to go to a local secondary school
