ADMISSIONS

The standard intake into our Reception class is 15 pupils (although we can accept up to 20 pupils), as decided by the Derbyshire County Council who co-ordinate admissions to all Derbyshire Schools. Essentially the Authority acts as a ‘clearing house’ for all admissions and enables parents to express their preference.

The Governors have adopted the Derbyshire County Council policy for Admissions and a copy is available in school.

Admission priority

Priority is determined as follows:-

Children in care of the Local Authority

Children living in the normal area served by the school, including those living in an area governed by a different Authority.

Children who do not live in the normal area served by the school but who have brothers and/or sisters already attending the school at the time of admission.

Other children whose parents have requested a place. This will be determined by the children who live nearest to school – measured by nearest available route – being given preference.

We are always pleased to show prospective parents around the school so do not hesitate to contact us to arrange a convenient time for a visit. All prospective parents are also invited to make an appointment to visit the school (please contact the school for further information).

Each year the school hosts an Open Evening where any prospective parents can meet the staff and find out a bit more about our school.

This year we are holding events on Thursday 1st October 2026 and Tuesday 17th November 2026. Both evenings will run from 6 - 8pm and we would love to welcome you. These events will be drop in sessions with no requirement to book a time slot.

September 2027 Admissions

Admissions During The School Year

Applications should also be made through Derbyshire County Council where the same criteria will be used to prioritise the offer of a place. Please follow this link for further information.

Again, parents and children are welcome to contact the school directly to arrange a visit at any time. Applications can be made by any parent but where there are limited spaces in a year group, priority will be given according to the DCC criteria outlined above.
